Another entry into the Verve Visual sketch contest

Long title post huh? I wanted to submit another card...might do a couple more this month...so be on the look out! What is this contest all about? Check out the Verve Visual blog here and read all about it!
For this set I actually used some images that I had recieved from a friend (thanks Danielle) I really love the images and I thought it went really well with this layout.. I did the paper tole technique again, I just love the way this technique looks...like I said before, time consuming, but definately worth it! This card measures 9x8.25.
The stamp sets that I do know are star ligt starbright and winter wonder both by Verve Visual
The stars are gold embossed and then I added the gems. The images are stamped on water color paper and then sponged with basic black ink and then water colored and sponged again. There is faux stitching around the image panel as well as on the back piece.
Above is a close up of the paper tole before I sponged it. Doesn't it look neat?
Thanks again for stopping by!

Lots went on this weekend!

We had our group meeting...FINALLY! I had missed everyone dearly and a few of us got together thi
Saturday and did a shoe box swap, chatted about the new things in the up comming catalog and shopped in Ronnie's shop!
All in all a blast was had by everyone present! Look at what I got! I know I finally have one! YEAHHHH. And I got it on sale 50% off to be exact...super score!
I have played with it a little bit, but I di score 150 birth announcements in a record time...super easy and a great tool to have on hand! I love it so far!

I also wanted to share some of the pictures from the day...unfortunately I forgot all about taking pics until after Shirley had already left...sorry sweety (hope you had an awesome anniversary!)

Here is a picture of the 3 of us...Val doesn't like having her picture take...although I think she's beautiful...inside and out! Ronnie is super sweet also and look at that store behind her! GEEESSSHHH
So I wanted to share with you all the cards we made for our shoebox swaps.
This little number was created by non other than the talented Val! I love this layout! What an awesome use of both of these papers and all those ous accessories! The dry embossing was my FAV!

Ronnie went all out as usual! This is a beautifully designed card that uses 2 halves of the scalloped circle card as well as some scrumptious designer paper from the catalog, and some wild wasabi double stitched ribbon!

Nikki, your card is just perfect...I can not believe we are nearing Graduation time already! I love the colors...wild wasabi, so saffron real red and wisper white. She used the new graduation stamp set and the striped grosgrain ribbon that is to die for!

This little beauty was created by Shirley with the help of her FAB husband...wasn't he sweet to help her out! I love the design and the colors are just perfect!

This is Phan's fabulous card! She used the stamp set Always and the colors were river rock, groovey guava, and ruby red. She also used the groovey guava double stitched ribbon and the ginger blossom designer series paper. Thanks Phan for a fab card!
And last but not least, I wanted to show you a picture of this cute little bucket I had gotten at a dollar spot somewhere. I added some rub-ons and punched som holes with my Crop-a-dial(that thing is absolutely AMAZING!) threaded some ribbon and then made the little squeres (sp? Sprry Dana, I don't know how to spell that!) They would be great for people to picj up cheeses or fruit with, or even to be used s a stir stick in someones drink!
I hope you have enjoyed browsing through my weekdend...thank you sooo much ladies for sharing your time with me! We had a blast and hope more of you can join us next time! We are planning another meeting for August!

What's your color?

Today's challenge on Splitcoast stampers is to create a card using one ONE color and any neutral...so here is my color...Purely Pomegranate...I love this color and will be sad to see it go... I know I have till August, but a girl's gotta prepare herself! I used a set I got not too long ago...earned it for FREE! The fun thing is i was cleaning my craft basement and I found all these pieces all cut up already...so if you think the layout looks familiar...I've probably already made a card similar!

I cut the card width wise and folded it in half. Next I stamped the flower images on the pomegranate with pomegranate ink and the sentiment with basic black ink. Then I made a mask for the circle image ( I stamped it on scratch paper and then used the 1 1/4 inch punch for the center easiest mask ever!) I then stamped the flower image in pomegranate one more time and VOILA! The only think left to do is add the ribbon and slider and call this card done! Cute don't you think?

as always...thanks for stopping by!

WOW twice in one day!

Hello all, Just wanted to come back by and show you some things I have been working on! Isn't this the cutest little gift set? I got a pack of 5 little bags that measure 4x5 at Walkmart yesterday and I just had to embelish them! So todays challenge on splitcoast was to use rub-ons and use them I did! I used them on the bag to aff a little extra somrhting somehting. I used them on the notepads for a sentiment, and I used them on the magnets as well. Ididn't used them on the pens, but aren't they fab! I just love the look and feel of a micro beaded pen!

All these projects and just one sheet of 6inch x 6 inch piece of designer paper! Man I'm thrifty!!!

See the ribbon on the magnet? I used my Crop-a-dial to punch a hole so that I could tie a little piece of ribbon through it! I also used a rub-on and them topped the whole thing with crystal effects to make it look more polished or some would say finished! I hope you like it!!!

Thanks again for stopping by!

MFT Guest desinger contest once again!

Geez I feel like I just had this post title! I can NOT believe it's already been a month and here we are again...pretty soon it will be 2009!!!

I really enjoyed making todays MFT guest designer card today (but infact I love any card making!) We had to use a background stamp and use it for something other than a background! So I stamped my SU! Folral background stamp twice on 2 sheets of shimmery 3x4 pieces of white cardstock and then cute them, one legth wise and the other width wise. Then I wove them together and sponged the edges.

I matted the woven piece onto pink passion card stock and then again onto chocolate chip cardstock. I also used my distressing tool to distress the later of pink passion cardstock at the bottom and then layered it under chocolate chip...leaving a little bit of the white at the bottom ( I just love how that looks!)

Once I was done with the card and main panel it was onto embelish. I started by adding the 2 pieces of ribbon and then stamped the floral BG image onto the button with stazon timber brown ink and added a rhinestone (thanks Diane) to the center of the button to cover the holes. Lastly, for the sentiment I punched out the pink passion key tag in pink passion and then the large circle in chocolate chip and I used my markers to omit the scallop on the punch and used only the candles and happy birthday...adding glitter and sponging finished it off!

Supplies:

Stamps: Floral BG stamp, so many scallops

ink: pink passion, chocolate chip, Stazon timber brown

paper: shimmery white, pink passion, chocolate chip

Accessories: punches, ribbon, sponge, dimentionals, primas, rhinestones, buttons, distressing tool

Thanks for stopping by! Best of luck to all who made a creation for the My Favorite Guest Contest!

Tuesday's Teacher...ON A TUESDAY

So I have been trying to post this for quite some time now...either it's my computer or netzero is having some issues...either way it's driving me bananas!!
Crazy enough I actually had a plan and am doing what I said I would do all along! I'm posting Tuesday's Teacher on a Tuesday...crazy as that might seem! Here is today's Bible verse

I am the way, the truth and the life. No one come to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

Do you know who Jesus is? he is the son of God in the image of man. We must first acknowledge Him and believe that he is our Saviour befoe we can enter into the Kingdom of heaven. Knowing who God is and who we are helps us to grasp our situations clearly as we seek a deeper relationship with Him. Jesus not only shows us the way, He IS the way. He not only speaks the truth...He IS the truth. He not only bring the life...He is the life. He Himself suffered for us, so that we can one day be in heaven for eternity with the creator of the universe. Let Jesus be your way, your truth, your life. Let him guide your foot steps, your movements, your every breath.

Todays Tutorial... Paper tole

This is a very easy technique...just not the fastest technique.
Here are the supplies you will need, I used water color paper, but definately NOT a requirement!
Water color paper
Water based markers(I used cameo coral, apricot appeal, mellow moss, creamy carmel)
Aqua painter
stamp set of choice (I used Time with you)
Stazon Timber brown ink
cardstcok and accessories of your choice

The fisrt step is to stamp your images on water color paper and then color them with your makers... I then went through and used my aqua painter to lift away some of the ink to give it a more water colored effect.

In this step I have actually just finished cutting up all the parts that I want to be raised from the various stamped and colored images...this is where your patience can be tested a bit!
Once you have them all cut up...you just have to layer. On the top layers I like to flair the ends some to give it more detail...with such small pieces it's a little harder though!

A closeup...don't you just love all the layers? There are 2 hats, 2 shirts, one pair of shorts, 3 flowers in baskets and one pair of sunglasses...man those were small!!!

This is another close up at a different angel so you an see all the layering details.

Here is the finished product! I hope you like it...a whole lot of work, but I definately think it turned out great! I love the paper tole technique...gives sooo much dimention to a card!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the paper tole technique!

Inspiration Challenge

Do you ever look at something and say...Ohh I know the stamp set I can use to replicate that!!! Well When my sister gave me a dress for Mela last year I KNEW i just had to order this stamp set to make scrapbook pages with...no I haven't made any pages yet (majorly slacking!!!) but I did make a card that was inspired by the dress...now when you look at the card and dress together don't you think it's the PERFECT match???

Todays inspiration challenge over on SCS was to create a card that was inspired by something in your home...let me tell you I knew exactly what I wanted to use... I even went into the girls room in the dark and felt (the lights were off) which dress I wanted to use...it's one of those dresses that just feel so perfect! Thanks sister for creating such awesome memories for me!

This is pretty much a one layer card, the only thing that is not flat is the ribbon and two punched out circles for the green centers. To make this card I used shimmery white Fabulous Flowers and Polkadots and Petals stamp set and I ised shimmery white cardstock. The colors are tempting turquoise and crtainly celery and th embelishments are the 1 inch circle punch, ribbon and 2 markers for the sentiment. Thank you soo much forstopping by! I hope you get inspired by something beautiful in your home today!
