It's Snow Time: Cheap and easy gifts

Hello,

I have been bitten by the blog bug again...I have stayed away for so long, but I am back!! I have missed you all dearly! So I wanted to share some cute easy peasy crafts to do with your kids...cheap and easy...and FUN!

Now that you've seen the picture...I know you're ready to get started!

Here is what you need:

- Pavers

- White spray paint

- Pom poms

- Pipe cleaners

- Acrylic paint

-Hot glue gun

- #2 pencil with a new eraser

- Fleece

- Scissors

So first you will want to get some pavers (I got mine at a salvage yard for 50cents each) and you want to make sure they are cleaned up. Then you will want to get a can of white spray paint (I got mine at dollar general for $1.30 and was able to paint 6 snowmen with it) and wait for it to dry!

Once the pain is dry, it's time to gether the children! Get a little tub of black paint and dip the eraser end of your pencil in the paint and create your eyes, mouth and buttons...repeat until you have made all your snowmen you'r ging to make. Clean pencil and use the orange paint to vreate a triangle with the eraser. Let paint dry

Cut your fleece while paint dries. I got half a yard of fleece on sale the other day for $3.50 and was able to make 18 scarves out of that! (comes out to 19cets per scarf!)

Cut pipe cleaner in half and glue on. 99 cents per pack of 12 (makes 24 snowmen)

Glue on Pom poms. One pack with 7 pom poms was 99 cents

voila...cuteness cubed! These make great Christmas presents for teachers, bus drives, grandparents...friendly neighbor with a beard!

I love the one wit the mustashe...and the one with the awesome smile (made by my daughter (6)for her teacher!)

Total cost per snowman?

Here is the breakdown:

Paver: 50 cents
Paint: 22 cents per dude

Pipe Cleaner: 4 cents

Pom poms: 28 cents

Scraf: 19 cents

paint: 3 cents

Grand Total: $1.26 per gift...and that my friends ain't bad!!! Add a little bag of cookies and you are all set to be theawesomest gift giver around!

This is a little felt candy holder...I think it turned out super cute. I love the felt snowflake (That was glued on) I created the scalloped circle using the big shot and a scallop circle die...tooo fun!

Once the candy is gone, this can easily be made into Christmas decor...simply slide a napkin in the tube and voila! A pretty table! Hmmm maybe I should of made a set of 4 of these!

PaperWorks Co. Challenge Focus

Hello there ladies and gents...my project for today is for two different challenges...one is for Splitcoastampers WT challenge...this weeks challenge was to use Green...and Green I used. The nexy challenge was to use a sketch...a very simple sketch from Clean and Simple Challenge 115. I lvoe the sketch! My paper was shimmery...can you see it?

I used a vanilla base for the card followed by glorious green and then a shimmery white background. Simple! Then I added some felt flurries snowflakes and pearls...color and VOILA! Card is done! I just LOVE simple Christmas cards!

The main reason I wanted to make this card though was to show you that you CAN use just a small image from a large stamp and still look FANTASTIC! So many people are Affraid of the BIG stamps, but to me they are FUN and versatile!

LPSC 91 Challenge...

So hello and how are you?! We are doing well here on the Island of Crete...getting chillier and chillier everyday! I know the pouring rains will start any day now! I'm just hoping it will hold off for my 10K run in Athens this weekend!

PWCO. Snowglobe

Today's Sunday sketch over at the PWCO. blog is a fun one! I really enjoyed playing around with it...for my card I did the "spotlighting" technique...super fun and quick when you don't have a ton of time to color the whole image! Most of you know how to do this technique, but for those of you that don't here is the lowdown...

You'll start by stamping 2 of the same image on a piece of your choice cardstock. The you will simply punch one out with a punch where desired. The you will color the small circle image and adhere it to the coordinating slightly larger circle...clear as mud right? Just take a look at my card below!

I choose to use circle, but you can use an aray of shapes, squares, rectangles, ovals and even your nestabilities shapes...super cute huh? I love this Magical Christmas image!

Supplies:

Stamp: A Magical Christmas

Ink: stazon black

Paper: Pixie pink, basic black, prism white

Accessories: small felt flurries, rhinestone brads, snowflake charm, circle punches, watercolor pencils, blender pens

Tyson Snowman Blog Hop...LPS Style

Hello, hello, hello,

It's day 2 of our Fabby-O-fab blog hop! Today is day 2 and do we have an awesome set for you! The stamp set is called {Tyson Snowman} and it is sooo cute! Plus, on top of this cute stamp set, we also have a challenge for you... today's challenge is all about the bling, the sparkle, the shimmer. Really, whatever makes it shine! See how sparkly my card is?! I know, it's soooo pretty! LOL, sorry I really can't help myself, it's just sooo I don't know, glimmery is that even a word...ahhh who cares!

This is a very white card...basical prism white cardstock with 2 layers of torn vellum with lots of glitter in between...and Voila, one shimmery card with a new stamp set...YAY!!!

I am lovin' this weeks sketch over at Paperworks Co.! Very sweet and simple if you need to get a bunch of cards made...also great to get rid of those tiny paper scraps you have been hoarding for the past who knows how many years! I choose to get rid of a snippet of ribbon I had laying around...I think it turned out cute and aside from the coloring and waiting for the glue to dry the card came together very quick!

So So simple, but still a very nice Christmas card. I choose to use only a bit of the sentiment...I really liked this bit of it...so true!

LPSC88: Sketch by Pam

Today our challenge for you is a sketch by Pam. One random participant will win the adorable {Katie Mushroom digi}. What an awesome image. And here is my card! I was in a Christmas mood, So I grabbed a piece of cheery paper and went to a little bit of a town...simple card, but super cute!

Kusudama Balls step by step Tutorial!!

Okay this has got to be the LONGEST post in the history of my blogging...but I hope it's worth it! Many have asked for instructions on how to make a Kusudame Ball ornament...so here are the step by step instructions!

This is what a completed Kusudame Ball looks like...if you like what you see...keep scrolling down for the instructions!

What you will need:
*60 pieces of 3x3 (7cm square) cardstock...all one pattern or various patterns, totally up to you! (If I am using SU! paper, which I liek the best for these, I will use 4 different patterns)
*liquid adhesive, I prefer Mono Multi...awesome stuff!
* Ribbon, beads, stamps and paper to accessorise.

Now, let's get started!

First you will start with the pattern you want showing on the outside facing down and with a point facing you.


You will wan tto fold the point that is facing you up to the top point so it looks like a triangle

Next you will wan to fold the right point into the center top point

do the same with the left and you now have a diamond shape again

Next, you will wan tto take the triangles and fold it so that the edges meet (center edge to outer edge)

Do this to both sides

Now you will wan to open the two flaps

amd fold down the top triangles so that they are even with the edges

Now fold the edges in so that it looks like a square again and add glue to one outter flap

Adhere together

I give it a little sqeeze int he center to make more round...instead of flat

Once you have made 5 petals you can start glueing then together to form a flower

Start by adding glue to the outer edge

This is what two look like glued together.

Just add two more cone shapes to this and you will have one flower

Now you have one completed flower! 11 to go and you can start piecing this bad boy together!

And Voila! You have 12 completed flowers! YOu are half way there! Don't give up now...we start glueing them together now!!!

Apply glue here to add your next flower! I love this part because all your hard work is finally starting to come together!

glue the next flower in place and it looks liek this, you areon your way! Soon you will have a smashing ornament!

Apply glue here to add the third flower!

Three flowers glued together!

This is what 4 flowers glued together will look! Gosh how I love these ornaments!

Now glue the 5th one into place and you are almost there!

Glue the last flower into this little crannie! You are going to love how this looks! You could even use this half as a candle holder, for maybe a tea light! Just be careful it is paper and could catch fire!

And this is what half of the ornament looks like! Now get to work and glue the other half together!

Once you have both halves completed, add glue to all the nooks and crannies of one half of the ornament and then add the ribbon in between.

Here is a ribbon sampling, I used two different ribbons for this one and 2 different colors of glass beads, but any beads will work! I also added a tag where you can add a message to the recipient!

Once you have added the ribbon in between the two I would add a bit more glue to the ribbon and then nestled the two together. They will fit together perfectly!

This is a horrible picture...a little too over exposed! Sorry about that!

And there you have it! A tutorial on Kusudame balls! I hope you enjoy making these masmuch as I have! They are gorgeous Christmas presnts and will definately WOW people!
