Journals

I made my nieces some journals for Christmas and I think they turned out pretty cute! I used some chipboard and cut it to size...they both measure 5x6. For the inside pages I simply used some copy paper from our printer and cut it to size...I paired it with a box on jumbo crayons and I think it made a super cute gift! They loved it and wanted to get drawing right away!
This one if for Olivia...hahaha and I used Groovey Guava designer paper on it (I don'[t think she's going to mind that it's last years In-Colors! LOL) and I used chocolate chip, very vanilla and my last tiny bit of Grovey guava cardstock. I used my scallop boarder punch and the Bind-it-all to hold it all together, a coat of modge podge and it was done...super cute, super fun anf she loved it! What more can you ask for?
This next one is for...you guessed it...Courtney! For her book I used a retired DSPaper that for the life of me I can not remember the name of! But I also used chocolate chip on hers...some modge podge and the BIA and that was about it.

Supplies:
Stamps: None
Ink: none
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Groovey Guava, Very Vanilla, Groovey Guava DS paper and an unknown DS paper
Accessories: scallop boarder punch, Bind it all, Cuttlebug Olivia Alphabet, Big Shot

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you try making a journal sometime... they are super fun and super simple.

May God bless you todat and always,

Tuesday's Teacher

Hello Ladies and gents! Sorry for the late post...the girls didn't want to go to sleep tonight! Mostly the little girl, so we stayed up and played for a bit and now she's OUT! Here is today's Bible verse.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians's 4:13

Ohh how I Love this Bible verse...Okay really there are many that strengthen me and lift me up and make me push harder, but this one really makes me want to strive and achieve ALL my goals...I have been using this verse in my head a lot lately...I have recently made a deal with myself...I'm going to be the healthiest, in the best shape of my life (it's really important for me to show the kids that it's good to be healthy and in shape...plus high cholesterol runs in my family and so I thought I would nip it in the bud before it starts!) So I have been working out a lot and when I feel like I can't push on any more, when I'm the sweatiest I have ever been and my heart is racing and I just can't go on I just repeat this verse in my head and I keep pushing through! I have joked with my husband that I'm going to stamp that verse on the garage wall, that way I can see it when I'm on the elliptical! H said go for it, but I haven't been brave enough yet...maybe soon though!

What is it that you need help pushing through? Are you having marital troubles? Are you facing a tough decision? Or is it hard for you to just simply get out of bed in the morning? (Depression is a real disease!) If you need me to pray for you, please ask, send me an e-mail I will be more than happy to pray for you! Also get this verse in your head...Jesus Loves you, he wants you to succeed and we can do all things through Him. He knows us, he knows our needs, our struggles and He wants to help us...ask Him!

I used to have the hardest time praying, I used to think that you had to have fancy words and fancy prayers in order for God to hear me, guess what? God just wants you to talk to Him, I have had the best talks with God...sometimes I think I'm just blabbering on and on, but God is there, just like any friend, He wants a relationship with you and He wants to strengthen you. Have you talked with God today? Have you asked Him to help you through all things?

Today's Tutorial

Workout Journal
Supplies: Bind-it all, or other binding system/method

-binding coils
-2 pieces of 4 x 8 in. Illustration board, or chipboard
-modpodge, or other strong paper adhesive
-foam brushes
-2 pieces of 4 x 8 in. of Designer paper (here Berry Bliss, retiring August 10Th)
-2 pieces of 1.5 x 8 in. of black card stock
-Stamps or focal image (here I used a Stampingbella Image that was given to my by and SCS friend, thank you!)
-1/16Th inch circle punch
-scraps of card stock to layer on the stamped image
- Lots and lots of pretty matching ribbons!
The first step is to add your adhesive to the back of the designer paper and adhere it to the illustration board or chipboard. The paper will curl or bubble a bit, but it will smooth out as it dries!
You will then punch the scallops in the black strip with the scallop boarder punch (available August 11Th) and then punch the circles using the hand held circle punch. Adhere the strips over the designer paper and add modpodge over entire surface (this will protect the paper from any accidental spills or dripped sweat...LOL)
Color the stamped image and adhere it and all layers on the book cover and add another layer or modpodge.
In this step, I also stamped the title of my journal...a little hint is to start from the last letter and work your way in, this way you always have enough room for all the letters!
Here I am punching the inside pages of my journal (I made mine out of computer copy paper that I cut to 7 7/8 x 3 7/8, just slightly smaller than the cover) To punch the holes, I am lining up and edge with the Bind-it all and then moving it in a tiny bit...since the pages are a tad bit shorter than the cover!

For the cover, I just inserted the page flush with the machine on the left and punched, then moved the cover all the way to the other side and placed it flush with the Bind-it all on the right and punched again...this way I knew that the top and bottom would be perfectly spaced!
To make sure that the book looks a bit more professional, you will want to make a sandwich before you add the coils.

This is how I start...back cover, front cover.

Lay the front cover on top of the back cover, then add the pages on top of the front cover
You will want to feed the coils from the top of the sandwich all the way through. Do this for both sets of holes.

Put it through the Bind-it all to squeeze them shut...
and
Voila! One super professional bound book...the squeezed part is now on the inside of the book, so when you close it all you see is nicely rounded coils! Just like the journals you buy at any store!

And this is the finished project! I added a bunch of ribbons and I colored in the image...Pretty in pink pants with pink passion polka dots to match her pink passion bar bells and sweat wrist bands!

I hope to use this book for many months to come...I think I put in enough pages to last me all year...I am writing several entries on each page...Plus my friend sent me a bunch of images, so I can have a new one each year!

What do you think? Do you like it? Don't you just want one of your very own???

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you liked and are encouraged by today's Bible verse!
