Stamps in Disguise

Today's Limites supplies challenge 192 is a doosey! At least is was for me! I was pretty much stumped until I remember that I had to make a guyih card for my sister FIL...he let me go to the Redskins football game with them FREE of charge...that deserves at least a thank you card! So I thought today's challenge was perfect!

So what did I come up with and what set did I use? I know the set is probably not even recognizable, but it's called Lifes a Breeze by Stampin' Up! and the sentiment is from a retired set called much appreciated. This card was super easy to make...the sketch was from a sketch challenge over at Angelosity (she's celebrating her 18 days of Angelosity and trust me you don't want to miss the chance for the AWESOME prize at the end!!!) and I simply embossed the main pannel and then tied some ribbon, stamped the sentiment and worked on the focal image...I wanted this card to not be too froo froo cuz it is a guy card...hints the minimal layers!

I choose these colors because they are the colors of our beloved Skins! For the main image I stamped the water tube on shimmery vanilla cardstock using craft ink...immediately after stamping it you use an aqua painter or brush and color the whole thing...covering the hole. I then inked my stamp again and rock and rooled the stamp to give it more texture...added the laced and did some sponging and called it a day!

Supplies:

Stamp: Life's a Breeze, Much Appreciated

Ink: Craft Chocolate chip

Paper: Bravo burgundy, more mustard, shimmery vanilla

Accessories: More mustard ribbon, big shot, tree branches cuttlebug embossing folder

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you like my stamp in disguise!

Scallop Envelope Box

YUP you read that right! I made this super cute little box from the scalloped envelope die cut! Not only is it cute but it's super easy! And only a minimal amount of supplies needed!

***I got my big shot yesterday and it needed some lovin!!!LOL***

Lets get started! First cut your piece of 8.5 x 11 cardstock into 4's.

Line it up on the die so that everything gets cut...I recomend only doing 2 at a time, otherwise the crease fold gets cut with so much paper...ask me how I know! LOL

Then you fold it at the score lines with the pretty scallop out and the rest folded in.

glue the little flaps and fottom flats together and presto magic you have a box!

I decided to go very simple, I could add a tag, but for thi one I just added some designer paper...one sheet that measure 3x8 cut into 2x3 pieces and some ribbon! add some gel pen dots, some fluff and candy and you're done! Can be used for anything really!

What do you think? Love you love it?

Supplies:

Stamps: None
Ink: None
Paper: real red, Holiday Treasure Designer paper
Accessories: Big Shot, Scallop envelope die, ribbon, gel pen

Thanks for stopping by!

Haloween Treats...

Hey there, Just wanted to share what I have been up to today! I was planning on doing today's sketch challenge 200, but other things got in the way...gotta hate it when that happens!
So I have a little Halloween party to go to tomorrow with MOPS in Culpeper Va and since it's my first time coming I didn't want to come empty handed!
I was already making some (40 to be exact) of these treats for DS's preschool party on Friday I figured why not! Right! So I have totally completed 30...cuz thats how many I needed for tomorrow and have almost all the rest finished...all bags are stuffed thanks to my lovely kids! and I punched all the black scallops and David and DH folded them and added them to the bags...David LOVES to staple anything, so this was a special treat for him...HAHHAAHAHA

These little baggies were super easy to make! Just 4 bags of candy corn and 70 glassine bags, 7 sheets of black cardstock and so far only 1/2 sheets of orange and wishper white...I still need to stamp 13 more cats and punch out 40 more scallop pumpkin pie circles and adhere them to the baggies...other than that I'm done...HAHAHA

Supplies:

Stamps:Batty for you

Paper: Pumpkin Pie, whisper white, basic black

Inks: black stazon

Accessories: small Glassine bags, scallop circle punch (SU!), Marvy giga scallop punch (for black circles...about 2-3 inches wide), 1 1/4 inch circle punch

So last yeat I used the pumkin in this set and this year I'm using the kitty, at this rate I have 6 more Halloweens before I have to buy another Halloween set! LOL

Thanks for stopping by!

retro Color Challenge

"Great is your faithfulness. "the Lord is my portion," says my soul, 'Therefore I hope in Him!' " Lamintations 3:23-24

In times of such unstable economic peril we are faced with uneasiness, fear, anguish and lack of faith. We need to remember that God is good all the time and all the time God is good! I am guilty of this as well, so I am putting no blame on ayone, but I whenever I tend to doubt who is in control I go to my Bible and start reading about God's good word, His promise for a better world...eventhough the world the bible talks about might not be what we think it should look like of even in our lifetime, if we belive and are faithful we will see all the glory God has in store for us! Be thankful today for God awesome provisions and remain faithful that He is in control! No matter what you don't have here on earth, the Lord is yours for an eternity!

And for a now card!

So todays color challenge 190 on SCS was Pixie Pink, Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango! Wild I know! And I even made a boo boo and went even bolder! I forgot what color we were supposed to use and used Pink Passion instead of pixie pink...I hope the challenge police can forgive me!

I went to my friend Ronnies the other day, she owns a scrapbook store called GoldensHill paper crafts (if you're in the Fairfax area you should stop by and tell her I sent you!) and I got this adorable stamp set from Inkadinkado called Butterflies and Birds for just $7.50...the awesome thing is that this set has 23 stamps! I know crazy huh! I love all the different bird and butterfly images! Anywho I thought this set would be perfect for this challenge and I just love how it turned out...the designer paper could of been a little more retro-y is that a word? but I'm pleased with the results! Very simple, very little embelishments, but I think the focal images just pull it off perfectly!

Supplies:
Stamps:Birds and Butterflies
Ink:Pink Passion, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Stazon Black
Paper:Pink Passion, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Papaya Designer paper by SU!
Accessories:scallop border punch, 1/16th inch circle punch. 1 1/4 suare punch.

Thanks fo stopping by!

Paper Napkin Trasnfer

Play so I had never done this technique before, I have always wanted to try it but have never gotten around to it! So todays Technique Lovers Challenge 192 on SCS was to create a card using the napkin transfer technique, so I thought Hey what a perfect oppertunity to try it out!

I was looking through the cabinets and would you believe that the only paper napkins I have are these Lightning Macqueen napkins! So a kids card it is! I have a newphew with a birthday next month so this is perfect!

On the technique lovers challenge thread is calls for parchments paper...but alas I am not a fancy cook and didn't have any of that in my drawer, but I had heard of doing this technique using saran or plastic wrap so that's what I did!
Here is the "Sandwich" that you need to make this card
-copy paper
-cardstock
-saran wrap
-napkin pretty side face up
-copy paper
-iron
***Be sure to separate your napkin if it's a 2 ply so that you are only using one layer on your card...won't stick too well if you have more than one layer!***
I also made this card to play in Sharons (notimetostamp) challenge on her blog here...her challenge was to make a flat card...no raised embelishments...I think I accomplished the task, but boy did I want to add eyelets or brads somewhere!
Supplies:
Stamps:Beauty of Nature by Little Paper Shop
Ink:Stazon black
Paper:real red, pacific point, whisper white
Accessories: copy paper, circle punches, key tag punch, napkin, saran wrap, iron, corner punch
***All Supplies from Stampin' Up Unless otherwise stated***
And Now for some personal pics!
We had such a wonderful and busy weekend, but I wanted to share some pics from a costume party we went to. My friend Nikki (NCSUNikki on SCS) has thrown a very nice and so much fun Halloween party for the past few years and we always have the privelidge to be invited. Our kids just love it. They have all sorts of games with prizes for the kids and a rockin swing set! So here are some pics from the party.
David Went as Batman, he looks on seriously as he waits his turn at the octopus toss game...for every ring they toss on the octopus they get prizes from the goody basket! Serious stuff!
Emelia was a Princess, her crown is hidden by her flying hair, she loved her costume so much that she wanted to sleep in it! LOL No I didn't let her, but I did let her wear it to the evening service at church though! LOL

And here is a twofer, a picture of Bella as a Baby Jaguar and Andrew...not sure what he went as, but at least he had a costume! (I love you baby!!!, and your awesome costume!!!LOL)
Doesn't Bella look too cute with her little wiskers? I didn't even try to put a headband with little ears on her because I knew they wouldn't last more than 2 seconds! I was glad she let me color her nose and add wiskers!
That's all I have for you today!
Thanks for stopping by!

One Leafy Kiss

So todays Limited Supplies Challenge 191, being hosted today by Wendybell, was to make a card using a leaf image...any leaf image and since this week is pink week in honor of Breast Cancer awarness month over at all the SCS challenges todays challenge card also had to incorporate some pink.
So I went ahead and used some of the other challenges from this week as well. I used the color challenge, CC189, to use Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Kiss. I also used Thursday's challenge, WT189, to use just one word as the focal sentiment. This card turned out very simple, but I really like it! I used the rock androll technique where you ink up your stamp in the lightest shade of ink fisrt and then you roll the edges in the other colors and I think it turned out pretty neat! Love that pink in the center!
I love this wonderful words set and seldom use it...Shame on me! So since it was still on my stamp table from yesterday I went ahead and used it again, this time I used the Celebrate sentiment and I'm going to send it to my friend who was cleared of breast cancer last year! Praise the Lord!!!
Supplies:
Stamps: Auntum Leaf Prints, Wonderful Words
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, whisper white
Accessories: sponge, soft subtles buttons, linnen thread
***All Supplies are from Stampin' Up! unless otherwise stated***
If you are interested in this set it is retired, but I am willing to pat with it for $15 so leave me a comment or e-mail me with the subject Autumns set at mabieme1999@yahoo.com

On a little side note, my brother-in-law was kind enough to point out to me tonight that most computers today, most programs for that matter, have a spell check feature...I really don't know what he was trying to get at! I guess he doesn't know that I have 3 small kids and am just typing as fast as I can to get it posted with no time to proof read or spell check! But you know what Gary, Jesus loves me and my imperfections, He accepts me for who I am, mmistakes and all...why can't you? (HEHEHE!!!)

Sketchy Book

This little book was made using today's sketch challenge 199 on Splitcoaststampers. I love the sketch but was int he mood to make a little book. I had gotten these little baggies with the intentions of making something with them and just hadn't gotten around to it...so today was the day!

The front cover uses the sketch. I love these papers eventhough they are retired! and so is the alpha set that I used for the title and stars. It's very simple really! The book measures 4x3 and the layers are all very small, so this really didn't take many supplies at all! I stamped the snowflakes using old olive classic ink on shimmery white cardstock and then stamped the stars with black stazon ink along with the title.

For the main bags I actually cut the little flap off and made a notch...using scissors of all things! I then cut a piece of cardstock to fit the inside and stamped a snowflake on each bag using white stazon ink...I think it adds a perfect little touch! Each little page actually fits a wallte photo perfectly! Too Cute!

And this is the pic of the front page...just the sentiment from the Snow Swirled set and a bunch of the snowflakes! a great place to write a little note to the recipient or leave as is!

Supplies:

Stamps: Snow swirled, straight up alpha and numbers

Ink: black stazon, white stazon, old olive

Paper: shimmery white, old olive, real red, retired designer series paper

Accessories: eyelets, crop-a-dial, prima flowers, glassine bags

I'll be making another one of our sumemr vacation to give as gifts this year so be sure to check back soon! If you would like some of these bags I have 3 sets of 50 left. they cost $5.50 and that includes shipping to you! Please e-mail me at mabieme1999@yahoo.com if interested

Pink Chocoate & some football!

"Oh send Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill and Your tabernacle." Psalm43:3

I sat down with the kids today and rush of emotion just flooded me. My eyes flooded and the dam broke and all the water just came gushing out as if there was nothing to hold it back! Mind you these were not tears of sadness, but tears of joy. Watching my children made me realize that the truth is in them, the truth is the small child that has not been hurt by a friend, truth is in a child that has not had a promise broken, truth is in a child that has not felt the anger and bitterness of another human.

Truth is nowing Jesus as your personal savior. Truth is living for Him, loving the little children he has given my husband and I to raise and having faith that he will help us guide them to His truth. Truth is in the little eyes, how they look at me when I loose my temper. To me the Lord has sent me His light and His truth...he has given me my chilsren. I am alwas trying to better myself for them and in turn am bettering myself for God as well. God sent me these little angels to help me be ready for Him. I have become a better person because of my children and I am working on my faults because I don't want my children to pick them up or be hurt by them. I love these little gee wiz moments in my life when I realize that God molds us in every aspect of our lives and how He is the only way to the tabernacle!

Here is my challenge card for yesterday...my computer was acting up and wouldn't let me post...I got a bit frustrated and went to bed! LOL
So yesterdays challenge on SCS was Emily's color challenge. I Love this color combo, but choose a very simple simple design as the kids were occupied for a minute and I could get a VERY QUICK card in.
The colors were Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette...great colors huh! I used my Upsy Daisy stamp set and same ink and some pretty ribbon and the card is now on it's way to a lucky recipient!
Supplies:
Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Best yet (earn this set FREE...ask me how!)
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate chip, shimmery white
Accessories: Sponge, 1 1/4 Pink Pirouette Grosgrain ribbon
The Skins Game!!!
My sister and I got to go to the game on Sunday and what a game it was...her father-in-law gets her club level tickets and
with those come great parking! We were just a few rows from the stadium!!!

This is a shot of the field after a touchdown. All the Rdskins Cheerleaders go on the field and do their thing and some HUGE flags get waived...it's soooooo awesome to be there and hear all those people cheering and carrying on. The game day smells the chill in the air the crazy fans...it's just awesome! I love love love going...unfortunately I don't get a chance to go too often...the last time I got to go was almost 10 yars ago, just a couple weeks away from being 10 years...man how time flies!

While we two crazy guys jumped the wall and ran accross the field...they got tackled and taken away in handcuffs...crazy guys! But hey at least I have a story to tell! It was soooo funny them trying to get away from the guards...the guy on the field finally got tackled by one of the sis players! I guess he'll always have a story to tell too! LOL

And this is my sister and I...she's wearing the burgandy hat and I have the tan hat...isn't she just gorgeous! Thank you so much sister for all the fun memories that we created! I had a blast and am so glad it was just you and me! Who knew two chicks could have such a great time at a football game!

Thanks for stopping by!

I've Been MIA

So I've been missing for a little while...so sorry about that! It wasn't my intentions to be gone for so long! I went to my parents on Saturday and then was planning on coming back Sunday after church to be able to get a little stamping done in the evening...Andrew went to VA beach for the week...classes. Anywho, I was at my moms waiting for her to get home so we could all have lunch together and my sister called me and asked if I wanted to go to the Washington Redskins game...what kind of a person turns down Club level seats!!!! So off we went to the game and then when I got home I was too tired to drive home. And then yesterday was spent with my sis-in-law and her kids...we had a great time! But I will have a card later today and pics from the game...we had so much fun and the Skins even won! YAHOOOOO!!!!!

So thanks for stopping by!

Hosting SCS

Challenge...Limited Supply challenge 190 that is! Since my very first challenge I started with a color and for my next challenge in November I have a color I thought I would have a theme...a color limit...I love hosting! So fun!!! Anywho here are the deets!

Eyelets, ribbon and one sheet of designer paper...that's all! Yup you read it right! Of course you can use your basic cardstock...as long as the card only has those things mentioned above...and be sure to use the color blue somewhere in there too!

So there are lots of no nos, no punches, no cuttlebugs, and if you're using double sided paper...only use one side! I know rules are so hardt o follow! But please please try your hardest! You know you want to play!
Need Some Inspiration? Okay here are a couple cards!

This fisrt one also used the plaid from yesterdays challenge...Love this paper. a very cute sketch that I rotated...found this sketch on miss JulieHRR's blog...thanks for the neat sketch Julie! This card is already in an envelope addressed and ready to go! I hope te recipient likes it! The sentiment is from a set called Topiary by the Little Paper Shop...Love this little set!

Supplies:

Stamps: Dreams Du Jour (su!), Topiary (by Little Paper Shop)

Paper: Kiwi Kiss, really Rust, Natural vanilla, Designer paper by chatterbox

Ink: Kiwi kiss, chocolate chip craft

Accessories: jumbo eyelet, crop-a-dial, kiwi kiss ribbon, sponge

This next card I made with the intentions of using it for the sketch challenge on Wednesday but when I went to upload I saw that my skecth was off...so I used it for my challenge instead! LOL I have a ton of eyelets and need to use them up, or loose them! So I made this little beauty. I love all the eyelets...aren't they pretty! I made both of the circles using my Coluzzle cutting system and then layered them. The center heart is raised up on dimentionals...a lot more blue on this one! You can use as much or as little as you want!

Supplies:

Stamps: Heard from the heart (SU!), Sock Monkey (SU!)

Ink: Staz-on black, pink pirouette, ridding hood red, tempting turquoise

Mad Flannel card

So todays Technique Challenge WT188 on SCS was mad for plaid to make a card using plaid...I had to think for a bit and then I remembered that I had the flannel plaid background stamp...more mute than what I think of when I think of plaid, but I think it worked out well for this card! I love the simplicity of the colors and how quick it came togeher...I don't usually get to stamp in the day, but the baby was sleeping and the big kids were watching a movie and this card only took like 10 minutes max! I love how they come so fast some times!

So this is my card! I used craft cardstock and chocolate chip ink for the flannel plaid BG and for the pine leaves. I then got some creamy carmel carstock and stamped the pine comes with chocolate chip craft ink and covered them in cleart embossing powder, heat set and then cut them out. I did the same for the sentiment with real red craft ink...although I didn't cut it out...went to my machine instead and did some stitching! I then inked up the edges with craft ink and crumpled the card a bit in places, added a ribbon, some eyelets and called it a day! I do wish I had some different color eyelets...some that weren't so barsh looking, but more subtle...ohh well such is live!

Supplies:

Stamps: Flannel Plaid Background, Peaceful Wishes

Ink: Craft chocolate chip, chocolate chip, craft real red

Paper: craft, creamy carmel

Accessories: ribbon, Embossing powder, eyelets, crop-a-dial, heat tool, paper snips

We attempted to go to the pumpkin patch yesterday, but when we got there they were closed...we were all very sad...the kids were in tears, so we knew we had to find some pumpkins to cheer them up! We went to our local nursery and bought some from there and came home a carved them.

I had NEVER carved a pumpkin before so this was just as exciting for me as it was fr the kids! We had such an awesome time getting all the pumpkin guts out and the carving it. I didn't realize this was so hard! Once we got them all prettied up we waited until dusk and then lit them...they kids were so excited about the pumpkins!

David is all smiles with his pumpkin! He wanted his carved just like a shirt he had...an orange shirt with a black face...so Andrew drew it on the pumpkin and they carvedit out together. Doesn't he look so pleased!

Emelia and I decided to make a ghost pumpkin and I think for my fisrt one it turned out pretty well! Although little miss priss wouldn't touch the insides...she did attempt to cut it!

Thanks for stopping by! We are hoping to go to the pumpkin patch tomorrow...so we'll see!

Technique, Color and Mud

So I'll start by sharing a bible verse with you today!

"Let love be without hypocrisy, Abhor what is evil, Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;" Romans 12:9-10

I just had to share this verse with you today because I've been thinking about how we share God's love with one another lately. Let's see where do I start? I guess I've been thinking about this when one of my BFF's told me that her neighbor came to her house and told her that her and her family moving into the neighborhood was one of the worst things that could have possibly happened to this particular neighborhood...can you imagine having one of your neighbors come to your house and tell you this!!! I was shocked that anyone would have the audacity to step on your property and tell you such horrible things! (Don't worry Dana I think they are just jealous of you and your 5K kids!) How can someone treat another human being with such carelessness? It's just wrong...no matter who you are!

The other thing I've been thinking about is the way we treat our own family, especially the little ones. I sometimes wonder if I'm disciplining the kids properly, I know I'm their parent and I need to teach them to behave, but I sometimes wonder if I am too easily frustrated or angered. Am I treating them as I would treat say a friend or co-worker? In essence they are my co-workers...since I'm a stay at home mom! I think it's my responsibility to teach them how to treat others the way Jesus would want us to treat them and I need to start with me. I need to examine myself a bit more and see how I react in different situations and see if there is room for improvement (there's always room for improvement!) Anyways that's anough of my blubbering, just thought I would share with you the Bible verse that I have been pondering lately!

Now for my card!
So this is my card! It covers two challenges on Splitcoaststampers...yesterdays Technique lovers challenge 190 Stair Step Card and todays Color Chalenge 188 to use Pink Pirouette, basic Black and whisper white. I also took the oppertunity to make a card for my dear friend Danielle (hey Girl!) that had a birthday yesterday! Shame on me for not mailing her a birthday card! So I made her this one...I hope she likes it!

Here is a close up... can you see all that glitter? I love how sparkly it is! I don't know that the images coordinate the best, but I think it's cute! I like that they are both wearinf similar hats and they are color coordinated! LOL
Supplies
Stamps: Older and Widser (retired SU!), Living Large (retired SU!)
Paper: Basic Black, shimmery white, retired designer paper
Ink: Stazon black, pink pirouette
Accessories: Aqua painter, re-inker, 1/16th hole punch, glitter, marvy scallop punch, ribbon, rectangle hole punch, scor-pal
And now...Let's get muddy!!!
Okay maybe not is...just my kids! So today was about 85 degrees and Davis has been begging me to make mud...so I decided that today was the day and boy oh boy did they make some mud! But Look how happy they are! I would let them do it all over again!!!

And Look at Mela all covered in Orange clay mud...isn't this the cutest picture? I just love the look on her fac and they way she was walking! She kept getting stuck to the gravel because she had so much mud on her shoes!

Ohh my sweet little Bella, no she didn't get muddy! I knew she would end up with mud in her mouth in a matter of seconds and I just wasn't prepared to handle that just yet! So we went down the slide many many many times over while the big kids got muddy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Last Little Paper Shop Pre-view this month

So here is my last on for October...I have super enjoyed these new sets and can't wait to see what else they will have in the future! Of course just because the pre-views are over doesn't mean I won't be using the sets anymore! LOL

All the new sets will be released at the Little Paper Shop on Tuesday the 14th. But until then don't forget to go by the Little Paper Shop blog and see what else the design team has come up with. These girls are just amazing!!!
I really like this card...I think I say that about every card I post...because seriously if I didn't like it in the least it would probably be in the trash can! LOL But this card started off as something totally different! And it ended up here because of mistakes and cover ups, but the end result is something I quite like! I had gotten my papers out and look over and saw my sewing maching and I though...hey everyone else is using it for card...why can't I? (I used the red because it was already in my machine and I was too lazy to change it! LOL)

So I went and set it to zig zag and went on my way...when I got to the end, as I was removing my paper the thread started to come undone...so I punched out a marvy scallop circle and added it on top...the machine got stuck and I pressed on the pressor foot to try to get it unstuck and the needle took off fast sewing and went off my circle...hints the use of the key tag punch for the sentiment...to cover my stray stitches! LOL

So then I though, Hey this is quite nice, I'll just stamp the bird up here and it will look like there is a tree off the other side of the card...yeah I had inked the stamp properly...part of him was not vissible due to my improper inking abilities! LOL So I punched out another circle and colored both birds, added the ribbon and after inking positioned the second circle and headed for the machine again. I know pretty brave huh! This time the stitching went a little better, although still pretty crocked, I think it adds charm and whimsy! LOL at least thats what I'm calling it! So with the left over scallop punch and the SU! scallop punch I sponged the clpuds on and called it a day!

So there you have it...why this card exsists! Aren't you glad for mistakes some days! I know that my God doesn't make mistakes, he just uses things to mold us and stretch us...just like in this card, I have been stretched! May God Bless you today, and use your struggles to show you His glory!

Fun Family Weekend!!!

So this weekend we went on our Annual family hike...and what fun we had! We didn;t go last year I think because it eas too cold for the baby, but this year the baby is almost 17 months and the weather was absolutely gorgeous! We had sooo much fun and Mela walked/climbed the whole way up...just a mile and a half, but there were some big rocks to get over and bumpy terraine...no to mention big bolder with water between them...the end result was definately worth it though! Here are some pics!

Here is Andrew, Bella (in Snuggly, she did have fun, was ust getting used to the snuggly!) And Mela Walking...she was such a trooper. Walked the whole way...had to convince her to drop that walking stick as she kept tripping on it!

Here is Mela and her Papa having a snack...triscuits...yum while enjoying the sounds and views of the waterfall...we sat on some huge rocks right at the base...there were more falls bellow us too, just little ones though

David stricking a pose...gotta love the 4.5 year old poses! He's such a character and a joy to be around. What a blessing God has given us!

And here is our view during lunch...or should I say snack! The speck at the top is my nephew Tyler...he said it was dizzying up there...wish I could of gone, but by this time it was WAY past Bella's nap time and she was nto happy anymore! So back in the snuggly for the trip down and thank goodness she fell asleep!

And this picture was taken at the apple Harvest Festival at Graves Mountain Lodge... I was so busy smelling the funnel cake and apple doughnuts that I totally forgot to pull out the camera until the kids were totally wet! The water was chilly, but I guess they didn't mind! It was a gorgeous day! Aren't they cute!!!

And here is our little poser girl! Whenever she sees the camera she says "Mom, take a piture of me!" and poses and smiles! I think we are in big trouble!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share some pictures of our glorious weenend! I have a card for you tomorrow! We are also going to the pumpkin patch tomorrow so more family fun pics to come!

Have a wonderful day!

God Bless you!

October LPS Sneak Peek #5

If you like sentiments...and birthday sentiments at that, this is the set for you! It's called Make a Wish and it's by Little Paper Shop being released on October 14th. It's a large set measuring 4x6 and contains 10 sentiments! I love love love this font, I don't think I can get enough of it...good thing Julia loves it too!

I started by picking out my designer paper, I knew I wanted something bright and cheery, cuz who wants a drab birthday card!!! I knew I wanted to use wonderful wings...I've been cleaning out my stamp stack (a listing of sale items soon to come!) and I saw this set that I just absolutely love and seldome use...I knew it would be perfect for this birthday greetings set! So I inked the butterfly in Kiwi Kiss ink and then using my chocolate chip marker inked up some areas that i wasnted to be brown, I then breathed on it to help blend the colors and stamped it on shimmery white cardstock...I wish you could see this in real like...the shimmer is just amazing! I then used an aqua painter and some tangerine tango classic ink refil colored the butterfly ever so gently and then went in and added more hughlights.

The last thing to do to this butterfly before cutting was to stamp the sentiment. I choose "Make a Wish" because it just fit so perfectly within the butterfly. I saw the little tutorial on SCS Wednesday for the scallop medalion and I just had to try it...good thing I had a piece of paper that measured to the perfect size! I punched it out and added little white dots and then some eyelets...although once I added everyhing you can hardly see the medalion! ohh well such is life I guess!

So that's my card! What do you think? I love these colors!!! Now go and check out the Little Paper Shop Blog to see what all the lovely Divas have created! They do amazing work!!!

October LPS Sneak Peek #4

So today is another sneak peek day! I REALLY like this set and used the Batik technique on it, but instead od using 2 colors I used just one! I do like how it turned out and the dove and swirl are a different shade...just very subtle!

I am normaly a total paper hoarder...so today I decided to share some of my love of paper...I have actually been a lotmore bold about using it! Maybe it's because I know we are planning on moving and I can't take everything with me...makes me more free to use some of the things I've bought! Use it or loose it mentality I guess!

Anywho. This card makes me smile! I looks tranquile to me! Reminds me of a spa or something. The technique on the main image panel is made using water color paper, ink refills, and clear embossing powder, it's batik and colorwash way...full details here!

Once I got the desired color on the batik, I sponged the edges using Baja Breeze...loving that color! The base of the card uses sage shadow...odd color combo but stange enough I feel that it works! I have been totally addicted to these little charms! Hopefully I'll run out soon! LOL

thewhole card came together very simply and I'm pleased with the results! Thanks for looking!

Don't forget to check out the Little Paper Shop Blog to see what the rest of the divas are up to...and maybe even some prizes!

Stamps: Flourished Dove by Little Paper Shop being released on Oct 14th!
Ink: versamark, Baja Breeze

Anniversary & New Feature

I made this card for some very close friends of the family. My sister-in-laws Aunt and Uncle...are they my family too? Anyways we care for them dearly and they will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this year. This wonderful couple have gone through a lot this past year and a bunch of their friends and family are sending them anniversary cards to remind them we love them!

So this is the card I came up with...it just so happens to fit perfectly into todays Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS wink wink. I love the way this heart looks embossed and since the 25th anniversary is the silver anniversary I went with it! Added some Silver carstock and shimmery white cardstock, and called it a day! I really like how simple this card is, but it's also elegant...at least I think so!

Monograms

So todays challenge on SCS was to make a monogram...I wasn't really inspired to make a card so I made little bracelets for the girls (David and I were workin on patterns with beads, he made necklaces for me, Andrew, Emelia, and himself) and so that's what I did! I used the Jumbo Outline Alphabet and stamped in on Shrink plastic, cut it out, shrunk it and added crystal effects and glitter. it looks so darn cute, if I say so myself!
I just used a white pony bead and some little red beads I had from a project long ago and some stretch jewlry string and there you have it. The girls really like it and now we'll be able to tell who's is who's!
Supplies:
Stamps: Jumbo Outline Alpha (SU!)
Ink: Stayzon black
Paper: none
Accessories: Shrink plastic, Crystal effects, dazzling Diamonds glitter, beads, stretch elastic for jewlry making, heat gun

So a while back my sister out me in touch with a gal (hi Lauren) that wanted me to make her a shadow box frame for her bosses wedding gift...well I finally got theinvite from my sister today and went speedy quick to work...I have been looking ofward to this project for quite some time now!

Here are the deets!

Now for some fun stuff we did yesterday, I say fun, but it was really quite a lot of work! We are going to be moving to Greece and therefor renting our house out...so we wanted to get some cleaning done! We started on the outside with the siding (is that how you spell it?) and decided to make it a family affair...cuz you know God gave us all this house and we all need to learn to take care of it, even the baby! LOL

Here's a picture of Andrew and all the kids getting to work...don't worry I helped too, I just wanted to get some pics to share with you guys!) When we got to the garage and we rinsed it off we were suprised to find that the garage door is actually white! Can you believe it, this whole time I thought it was kahki, or orange mud!

And I just had to share this one! David and Bella were so busy with their work! Bella was just too cute doing what the big kids were doing! She had so much fun and then took a wonderful nap after we were done! Mela was re-charging her scrubber with more bubbles...she seemed to be at the bucket a lot, I think she enjoyed playing in the water!

Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate your visit today!

Sorry about Tuesday's Teacher

I was planning on posting yesterday and I just didn't get all the pics done that I wanted to and then I had to go back to the hospital for another MRI and that totally threw me off schedule and I was totally exhausted by the time 8pm rolled around...I will try to have my Tuesdays teacher from now to the time we move, but I can't promise anything. I will be busy packing and getting things ready to rent our house out and I just don't know if I will have time to put a tutorial together...hmmm maybe I can still do a bible verse and card that day...that won't take near as long!!!

I hope you understand, thank you for stopping by! I will have a project to share with you later today!

Now for my excitement from Saturday! It was a gorgeous day out and there were a ton of people at the Youth for Tomorrow Country Fair and it was a blast! I did forget my camera at home...remembered when I was about half way there and by then it was too late! Ohh poo. I was able to grab my sisters for a couple of shots, but thats about it!

Here is my excitement, I got to stand next to Joe Gibbs and I even touched his arm...I know it was pretty cool! So maybe I'm not as cool as my sister who was the Hostess at the VIP tent and got to have lunch with Joe and his wife, she had an actual conversation with him and everything, but hey I will get whatever I can right!

And then I got my picture taken with a Hoggette named Nickette...it's a man dressed in silly unmatched womens clothing and a pig nose, they have been going to every Redskins (who have won 4 games this year by the way!) game. The hogettes are even in the Hall of fame! And he even game me his trading card and autographed it for me! Pretty cool if I say so myself!

Anywho I'm off to make blueberry muffins with my little boy while the girls are napping and then hopefully tonight I'll be able to post a pic of somethingI've created! I hope you have a wonderful afternoon!

October LPS Sneak Peek #2

Hello there ladies and gents (if there any that come to my blog!) Just wanted to share with you another sneak peek to another fantastic set by Little Paper Shop...this one is a sentiment set and it's called Dream...boy are the sentiments just perfect! This set along with Topiary will be released this Saturday...World Card Making day at the Little Paper Shop on-line store!

For this card I wanted to go with some colors that I seldom use...so I started off grabbin a piece of Brilliant Blue and then went over to my little designer paper stash and found these gorgeous papers by Bo Bunny. I love love love how they look together and decided to grab a piece of So Safron to coordinate. Don't the colors just remind you of something your grandma might have...it does for me anyways!

So I had the card pretty much together when I decided it needed some ribbon, went over to my ribbon stash and nothing really struck my fancy but this red and white gingham...but it was red and white and did't match my colors...so whats a girl to do but take her So Saffron marker to the ribbon and color it in...the results? A super cool coordinated ribbon and the plus part is you can do this with just about any color! AWESOME!!!!

Before I stamped the sentiment I stamped the swirly tree from a set called Swirls using so safron ink on shimmery white cardstock and then stamped the sentiment from the new set Dream with Brilliant Blue and punched it out using my 1 1/4 circle punch, layered that on a So Saffron 1 3/8 circle punc and Brilliant blue scallop circle punch added some rhinestones and called it a day! This card came together in about 10-15 minutes tops!

Supplies:

Stamps: Swirls & Dream from Little Paper Shop

Ink: Brilliant Blue, So Saffron

Paper: Brillian Blue, So Saffron, shimmery white, Designer paper from Bo Bunny

Accessories: gingham ribbon, rhinestones, punches

Don't forget to stop by the Little Paper Shop Blog to see what the rest of the gals have in store for you with this set!

October LPS Sneak Peek #1

So the Little Paper Shop is going to be having 2 releases this month...one being this Saturday in honor of world card making day and the other being on the 14th. Twice the excitement! I am super excited about both releases, but I super love the set we are previewing today...it's called Topiary and it is so stinkin cute! It's a 3x4 set and has this super cute tree you will see below and 5 sentiments...I just love how versatile it is! Great job Julia!!!

First I wanted to show you this super cute little box...It's called a mini Magazine bog but I can not remember where I got the instrcutions...blog surfing one day and I didn't write it down...shame on me! (if you know who created this please let me know so Ic an give proper credit please!) Isn't it just the cutest? I lvoe this little card set...the cards measure 3 x 4 and I just think they are precious! A perfect little thank you for a gift or kind gesture someone extended to you!

And this is a little side view of te box...cute huh! I love this because I can make another set using a different sentiment from this set and another box and line them up on a shelf...not only will they look pretty, but also convenient!

And this is what the cards look like! They are very simple...I lvoe one layer cards! But i think they pack a punch! They are not exactly one layer as they have a little trip of designer paper just above the scallop boarder, but the are still cute! One thing I love to do when I make a scalloped edge like that is add a snippet of designer paper to the inside, it adds such a nice touch!

To the topiary I stamped it in Wild Wasabi ink and colored the flower pot with my Chocolate Chip Marker and masked the edge and stamped...I colored the topiary part with an aqua painter and reinker adding different amounts of ink to vary the shade.

For the little flower pot I actually colored it in with river rock and my aqua painter fisrt and then went back and added color accents and highlights with my Tangerine Tango ink refill and aqua painter. Punched some holes, tied some ribbon and added glitter and this baby is done...after stamping the sentiment with Tangerine tango of course! (Tip: Stamp the sentiment BEFORE tied the knot...grrrr)

Thanks for stopping by! Julia has some awesome things planned for Saturday (World Card Making day!) so stop by the Little Paper Shop or the Little Paper Shop blog to see what's in store and to check out what the other design team members have made for todays release!

Thanks for Stoppin' by!
