Tuesday's Teacher

Hello all, it's that time again...I have been very naughty about doiing my Tuesday's teacher lately, with Christmas and packing and getting things sorted for our big move (more stamps for sale soon) I have just been totally busy and not able to post too often...but today I'm making some time! Here is today's Bible verse:

"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." 1 John 4:11

Well the nice thing about this verse is that it's pretty much self explanitory, but I thought I would remind everyone that in this season of Jesus' birth it is important to remember why we are celebrating! I know that this time of year can bring a lot of Christmas parties and other holiday festivities, have you gone out of your way to invite someone that you might be arguing with? Someone you don't think should be invited because they have hurt you in one way or another? God calls us to love everyone, just as He loves us! I know that we lead such busy lives that it's easy to push the people that hurt us into the back of our minds. It's time to let those people know you love them, that you forgive them and that you still care for them. I try very hard in my own life to not hold grudges (I admit it can be very hard for me, even when I think I have forgiven, something comes up that triggers a memory and I hold on tight to that grudge). Lets do it together this holiday season, lets forgive those who might of hurt us in the past, lets show them that our love is possible with the love that Jesus Christ shows us daily. He was born into poverty so that we might live in wealth one day with Him. Let's start the wealth of God's love here on earth today!

Today's project is a ribbon slide for a necklace. I really love how this turned out! With the exception of the bubble in the corner...such is life I suppose! It was very easy to make. I got the silver square base from a friend who owns a scrapbook store...the website is www.goldenshillpapercrafts.com . I started by stamping the bird image from the inchies set from Inkadinkadoo, also from my friends store, in stazon black ink. I then colored it in with an aqua painter and some re-inkers. Once I was pleased with the coloring i added it to the necklace and put a tiny bit of crystal effects to cover the image. After that I added some dazzling diamonds glitter and let it dry overnight.

By morning the crystal effects was totally dry and the glitter was set...now for the fun part...you will need a 2 part epoxi, mix that in a seperate little plate until well blended, then scoop it up and place it in the little necklace, making sure to shake and poke out any air bubbles. The stuff is super stinky, kinda like over cooked eggs, and the chemical reaction will cause the metal of the necklace to heat up. So work in a well ventilated area and try not to touch the metal...not too hot, but just be careful.

The epoxi I got was the fast drying kind and it was set to the touch in about 5-10 minutes. Becareful though the stuff is tempermental and does not like it too cold or too hot. Also if you put the epoxi directly over the image it will eat away the colors that you so carefully colored and your project will only be black and white!
