Happy Birthday Sister!

So yesterday not only was Mother's day, but it was also my sister's birthdday! She turned the big 30! I can not believe she's in her 30's! That means I will be in my thirties soon! Really where did all the time go? I swear I was just 17 the other day! Anywho here are some things I made for her, because I love her so very much! First her card!

I made her a pocket card and inside it has a nice pull out little card...so now she can choose to use it as a money holder or keep it forever and ever! LOL

I really love this stamp set and I don't think I will ever get rid of it! It's a celebration set from a couple years ago and it is just awesome! I love all the sentiments, I love the fonts that the sentiments come in and I love how the flowers & word work well for any occasion! A perfect set if I do say so myself!

Here is the card and the pull out all together! What do you think? Cute huh?

And a close up of the sentiment! I really liked the sentiment I choose for the inside and love how I used all sorts of different fonts (I would love to say that I was clever enough to come up with the sentiment on my own, but I'm not...went to e-card website and borrowed it! LOL)

And now for the gifts! She just recently got married (last August...has it really been almost a year!) And so I made her this super cute little bracelet using one of her wedding photos...now she can always look at her arm and see her awesome hubby (Hi Gary!)

And this is a little frame I made for her. I got a penny for every year she has been alive and then added some commentary for each year...things like jobs she's had, the birth of her son and other momentous occasions from her life...It was super fun to make, but the best part was this...
Her reaction! I just love to suprise people and her reaction really made me cry! Tugged at my heart a little and really I'm in tears as I'm typing this! She is the most amazing sister I could have asked for! She is selfless and always wants to do things for others! Last year when I was all the way pregnant and really couldn't move she came to my house on HER birthday and cleaned the house for me...how super sweet is that! I love her with all my heart and am soooo grateful for the awesome relatioship we have! I love you sister!
Here is another example of her selflessness, I know it's hard to see in this picture, but my sister is giving my mom a pedicure...on her birthday, my mom loves getting pedicures from my sister (and so do I, she does the BEST job!)

Ans one last picture, I just love how this picture turned out...don't they look cute! This is my awesome nephew and my GORGEOUS sister...doesn't she look FAB! Happy mother's day and happy Birthday sister, I lovee you!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm sorry for all the post today, but I had a lot that I wanted to share with you all! Have a blessed day!

Mother's day celebrating!

Happy Belated Mother's day to all you mothers out there! We had a very nice day...hubby was working so we went to my parents house and met up with my sister there as well. It was a very nice day, I loved celebrating with them! The best part of the day was just being able to relax...well with the exception of Mela pooping in her pants and needing a bath (almost 2.5 and potty training!) Thanks mom for the gorgeous flowers (african Violets one of my Favs!) and thanks sister for the good ol cash money! hmmm I might get myself a nice pir of shoes!

Here are the cards I made for my mom and my sister!
This was my sisters card...simple but I just loved the combination of stamps and paper...love that little bird!
The base of this card is cameo coral and I used really rust to stamp the little tree and chocolate chip for the bird...for the ground I simply used a sponge wedge and smudge it on...turned out pretty good if I do say so myself!

This is my moms card...isn't it pretty! The flowers, ric-rac and pearls I won as blog candy from Diane's Designs...Love them!
The stamps are from Verve Visual and the set is called Serenity...isn't it just gorgeous? I stamped the flowers in pink passion and used the generatio or stamping off technique, I then stamped the outline in chocolate chip and that's pretty much it! The paper is shimmery white and then I layered it on old olive and again with pink passion
My parents also have some new additions to the family!

Mela is in love with the baby chicks...poor little chick! Mela really had a death grip on that little thing!

And David just absolutely adored the duckling...they are new this year and let me just tell you that little duck is a snuggler!
Thanks for stopping by! I love sharing my creativity with you as well as little tid bits from our lives! Have a blessed day!

Gift Card class

Hello all, just wanted to share the 3of the 4 cards we will be making at one of my upcoming classes at Stamp-N-Scrap in Culpeper Va...if you're in the area stop on by!

For this fisrt card I used the MFT stamp set...say charge...I just love how this turned out...simple but stunning. A little prima and some tiny hole punches and your card is done!

This next card is aslo a gift card holder and I used an inkadinkado stamp, I also used my markers to color in the ties! Wouldn't this also be cute if you used a number stamp set and add an 08 instead of the ties for a gradute? I lvoe how it turnedout and that paper is just the coolest!

This last card is too awesome...it actually measures 8x9 and it's a money holder! There is no stamping, but I lvoed the paper and the flower (it's a big sizzix die I got on sale!) layered it and inked it and added some bling...added the scalloped circle with some dotties and we are golden...easy peasy!

So stop on by Stamp-n-scrap and see what thr last card looks like...trust me you don't want to miss it! Plus I'll be giving all the dimentions the day of the class so youc an take it home and make more of these FAB cards!

Ohh Man!

We had some major down pour last night and when I came downstairs this morning to grab my friend Wendy a birthday card I was greeted with something else...WATER! YUCK our basement flooded...I don't know if I'll be able to stamp today, trying to get it all cleaned up before it starts to stink!

I am very very bummed, I have lost my area carpet...it covered the whole square where I have my stamping stuff and I love 2 other carpets, plus I think my sewing machine is gone too...how a I going to sew on my cards! Although I am pretty upset and don't know if I'll be able to replace the things we lost any time soon I am thankful that we don't live 50 or so miles north...Hubby is a fire fighter and he is on stand by at an area that had tornadoes and MANY house were destroyed...So although I am upset, I am still counting our blessings! I Thank the Lord for all he has done, in the good and bad times!

We were just a few feet from loosing the computer...what would I of done then!

Thanks for stopping by!

A family Affair

So today is the last day to enter your projects into the My Favorite Things guest designer contest and we made it a family affair! For the contest we had to create a project, card etc. with animals being the theme, I unfortunately didn't have any MFT animals, but had a bunch of other animals...so my though was hey why not make an arc...Noahs Arc!

I was had finished cutting out my arc and then scored it with my FAV new toy the Scor-Pal (let me tell you it made making wood slats soooo much easier than ever imaginable!) anyways I stamped my animals on water color paper and my DS and DD said hey we wanna color! So I went ahead and stamped some images for them and some for DH too! It was soo much fun for all of us to sit and color together! DD2 missed out on the even because she was napping...although she's not one yet and probably would of just chew on the paper, markers or more than likely BOTH! Hahaha

So onto my card! I started with a whole piece of shimmery white cardstock and scored it in hald at 5.5 inches. After scoring and folding I used the scor-pal again to make my "wood" lines scoring fisrt length wise and then flipping it to get the smalled slat look. I then traced my pattern (drew is on a piece of scrap paper to see if I liked it first) onto the cardstock and cut it out. Once it was cut I used a sponge wedge and just rubbed from sidet o side to get a more "grainy look" and sponged the edges as well...thats pretty much it for the arc.

I stamped all the animals on water color paper and colored and cut them out...MAN did that take forever! Really all day...although I would cut out an animal then play with the kids...come back later and do it all again! Once all the animals were cut out I just adhered them in and trimmed them up as needed.

There is a window in the boat...I decided at the last second to add more wood because the window leads to the inside and now I can't make up my mind wether I like it or not! Anywho, I think I got all the info down...I did use the jumbo eyelets to make them look like the port holes on a ship...
I wanted to show you a view from a different angle so you can see the wood...what do you think? Isn't it neat! Thanks sooo much for stoping by!

Tuesday's Teacher

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! I am so ready for Tuesday's Teacher today it's not even funny! It's amazing what you can do when you are on task and plan ahead! Here is todays Bible verse.

"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on." Matthew 6:25

I love that verse... I find myself worrying about the smallest things. Are the kids getting enough to eat, are they drinking too much? Am I feeding them well enough now to establish a healthy relationship with food later on? Am I a good mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend? Am I completing all the task I SHOULD? I sometimes worry or frett over anything, I need to learn to let go of the things I can not control and give them to God. He is my creator and he will take care of all our needs! Now I'm not saying that we should go out and live our lives carelessly taking no regard for rules and regulations, what I am saying is that the Lord WILL provide if you just give Him the chance and no it won't always be in the way we think, God is going to work in our lives, sometimes he takes a detour to show teach us something or teach us to grow, but He will get you where he needs you to be.

God is amazing not just because of who he was but also becuase of who he is and who he will always be! God is not just Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, he is also our savior now, today, tomorrow and always. He is as much alive now as he was 2K years ago and he wants us today to be with Him in heaven just as much as our ancestors...so trust in Him. Trust that He will guide you in the right direction. Trust that the Lord will take care of all your needs and trust that even though we might not know what will happen next in our lives God does! This is just my opinion, I am NOT a theologian and have no degree in theology. Thank you!

Todays Tutorial is: Pencil Box Tutorial

So I will be showing you how to make a super simple pencil box out of less than half a sheet of cardstock. So get your Scor-Pal out and get ready for some fun!

Here are the supplies you will need:
-sheet of cardstock measuring 3 7/8 x 11
-Sheet of cardstock measuring 2 x 8 1/2
-scraps of white, more mustard, and not quite navy
-Linnen or some sort of thread or fiber and eyelets, brads, baubles to decorate stamps and ink of choice as well as some strong adhesive.

Step one: move cardstock to the 7/8inch mark and scrore the cardstock at the 8.5 inch mark. Slide the cardstock back to the corner and score afain at 8.5 inches
Step two: rotate the cardstock length wise and move it to the 1/8 inch mark and score at the 1/5 inch mark

This is what your scored cardstock will look like.

Step3: in this step you will want to stamp both side of the cardstock in a stamp set of your choice. I liek to stamp both sides, makes for a nice suprize when the pencils get pulled out.

You will also want to cut the notches and crease the paper on this step. Just cut where the vertical and horizontal score marks intersect. Cut, but do not remove the notches!

Step 4 is super simple! Use a very strong adhesive to adhere the front flap to the back flap. I like to fold the flap in, add the adhesive of choice on both side and fold up. The bottom flap will be on the inside of the long flap...I tried it both ways and it just looks more finished when they are inside...do you know what I mean? Your box is finished!

Now for the Belly Band

You will need a piece of cardstock that measures 2 x 8.5

Step one is to move the cardstock to the 3/8 inch mark and core at 3 inches

Step two is to move the cardstock to the 1/4 inch mark and score at 6 inches Now flip the cardstock over and repeat one more time, band is done...time to decorate!

Voila...you have a ready to give gift. I did add a strip of adhesive to the inside top of the box to hold the pencils in place! I hope you like this tutorial...let me know if you decide to make one too!
