Sketch Challenge 191

If you can believe it ALL of my kids are sleeping right now! I know I'm as shocked s you are! They needed it, they have been going like crazy lately! So this gave me a chance to stamp something during the day...then it's off to do more laundry...FUN FUN FUN! Here is my card!

I know it's still August, but I just can't help thinking about Christ

mas already! The leaves have started to change and some have even dropped! (Probably from the lack of rain we've had this month!) but it's making me think sweaters and hot chocolate and that I'm already behind on my Christmas shopping! LOL

So when I saw todays sketch on SCS I know I had to make a Christmas card...never too early to tstart designing them!

For my card I used Ridding Hood Red as my base and the yummy new Christmas paper Holiday Treasures...aren't those colors just gorgeous! I then used my Top Note die (exclusive to SU!, available Sept. 2nd to everyone) and cut it out of natural white cardstock. I then cut off a side and one end and stamped the trees in Chocolate chip craft ik and added Iridescent Ice embossing powder...the trees are sooooo shimmery! inked the edges and punched a hole with my Crop-a-dial and threaded chocolate taffeta ribbon through the jumbo eyelet!

I then attempted to do the faux embossing challenge from monday ...using the white craft ink and a classic ink over that...it seems that you DO need a stamp-a-majig...or at least a clear stamp to get this technique just right! Ohh well I am happy with the card and someone will be happy to recieve it...it's not a mistake! It's Hand Crafted!

What you'll need:

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Holidays & Whishes
Ink: Craft Chocolate Chip, Ridding Hood Red, Craft White
Paper: Holiday treasure designer paper, ridding hood red cs, natural white cs
Accessories: Crop-a-dial, Jumbo Eyelets, Chocolate Taffeta ribbon, Sizzex die Top Note, Cuttlebug, Sponge, Iridecent ice embossing powder, heat tool, Powder Pal, scor-pal

Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday's Teacher

Hello ladies,

Sorry about last weeks disapearance! I am back and ready to roll! I think my Mojo is back and I'm not feeling quite as lazy anymore! Here is today's Bible verse!

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!" Joshua 24:15

I know this is a wildly popular bible verse, but I still find it to be one of my favs! It's also a bitter sweet verse to me, you know how your parents are always trying to tech you the right thing and make the right choices for yourself and when you're a teenager you always think that your parents are total idiots! Well I know that my time will come some day, but I never want to be an idiot in the eyes if my kids...especially in the religion are. I want them to look up to me and know that they can trust in me to teach them the right things. I want my kids to always follow God (eventhough I know they need to make their own desisions!) I just don't want my kids to go through heartaches and trials...geez I'm not in control though, God is and I don't need to be worrying about these things because those times are so far off! But as of right now, me and my house will serve the Lord with all we have! We are blessed to be children on God and want God to know how much we love Him!

Thanks for reading my ramblings! I hope you and your house choose the Lord today...if you haven't already!

Tuesday's Teacher Tutorial

Top Note Ornament

Supplies:

Chipboard
Designer paper
modge Podge
Die cutting machine
SU! Top Note Die (available Spet2nd)
ribbon
Crop-a-dial
embelishments
Fisrt I picked a picture I wanted to use and then I ran it through my die cutting machine (I used my cuttlebug because I don't have a Big shot yet!) and I used 2 B plates to make my sandwich. Once I die cut my picture I cut off the section that is perferated so that it would layer on the ornament itself.

Next I covered the chipboard with designer paper...a different design on eahc sid! make sure one side is not too busy or dark so that you can write on the back if you wish!

I will be making each of the kids one of these...it's a pic from each ones fisrt Christmas... I know they will cherish these when they get older...

And here is the finished product! I added this ornament I got at Target last Christmas...they were normally 4 for a dollar and I got 4 for 25cents! Well I got more than four...but you get the idea! So there you ahve it, a fun quick and easy way to make awesome ornaments with our new tool!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this project! Come back soon for more fun cards and goodies!
Thanks for stopping by and as always

Riley's Home...

Riley Moose that is! I got some stamped images from Stacy over at Twinshappy and I finally got a chance to use another one up! Thanks Stacy He's super cute!

This cute little house template was in Stampers sampler magazine and I thought i would give it a try! Here is what I came up with...all the shingles for the roof were individually cut and Riley was also totally cut out...I think he turned out super cute! But if you look closely he has some nice curtains hanging in his windows!

So the grass is totally my FAV, but hey who doesn't love a nice lush lawn in the summer?

Thanks for stoppin' by, I'll be back in a few...hopefully with a nice tan!

Diaper Folding!

Okay no I didn't go cloth! There is a super cute little pouch that is made with a "diaper" fold! Here is a link to the tutorial from SCS. I made 2 of them...one from a sheet of 12x12 paper and the other from a sheet of 6x6 paper...I think they turned out super cute!

I used the big one (mafe from Groovey Guave designer paper) to hold popcorn...my kids loved and I think I am now in trouble for whenever we eat popcorn! LOL

The little one I made from wild wasabi square of desiner paper...this one was the 6x6 lol, anyways it's considerably smaller and I was wondering what to do with it when a bag of fire balls fell out of my overflowing basket on my counter, and then I knew just what to put in there! LOL

Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday's Teacher

Howdy Howdy! It's time for another Tuesday's Teacher, but today instead of a tutorial I will be doing a product review! Here is todays Bible verse!

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! 2Cor9:15

This verse is so cool because you can think of all of God's gifts that he has bestowed upon you. One of my most favorite things in the world is the Ocean and I seriously did not think we would be able to go on a vacation this year and it's been almost 2 years since I've heard the roar of the ocean...I am so greatful for the miricles God gives us...great and small!

Another thing that I know is an indescribable gift is my awesome husband! I know that I can be a pain to deal with sometimes, and he still loves me and does the sweetest things for me. My awesome kids, the home we live in. Me being able to stay home with the kids and not work...these are all miracles from Jesus my saviour!

What gifts are you thankful for today? Are you feeling better than you were yesterday? Did you get a promotion at work? Is the sun shinning where you live? Do you have food and clothes to keep you fed and warm? There is a whole world of thins to be thankful for...pick one and thank the Creator!

Now for the Product review:

Okay I will be reviewing Verve Stamps. The reaon I choose to do a review today instead of a tutorial is because today is Verve's new stamp release...and what is so cool about that? Well the cool thing is that this is their ONE YEAR ANNI-VERVE-SARY! You guessed it, they got started just one year ago today!

Julee Tilman is the owner and brains behind Verve Stamps. You can check out Poetic Artistry her blog here. Anywas I happed to be fortunate enough to meet Julee on SCS where we were stalking buddies...we stalked the challenges waiting for themt o be posted so we could rush off and stamp!

Anyways she is a sweet heart and has a head for buisness, as well as being a strong christian. and not to mention super creative!

Verve stamps are clear photopolymer stamps and I was extremely hesitant about trying them because I had never used clear stamps before...Julee and I did a little trade and I got some clear stamps....I really like them folks! I specially like the sentiments...super easy to line up and get them perfectly straight!

Julle is super quick at shipping them and they are packaged sooo nicely and all wrapped up in tissue paper!

Really go and check out there site, the stamps are fab, prices are great and there are a bunch of new ones today!

Here are a couple more cards from her Anni-verve-sary challenge!
Sketch Challenge #5
This card is super tall! It's 8.5 inches tall and measure 2.75 inches wide. I love how it turned out, but I think I'm going to have to make a special envelope for it! Good thing I have a scor-pal! The cardstock for this card is ridding hood red and kiwi kiss and the designer paper is called bella rose. The stamps are from Verve stamp and the set is called Serenity.

Sketch Challenge #6
This card I don't know that I'm too pleased with! I guess it's okay but doesn't really knowck my socks off! The sentiment is also from a verve set!

It's Monday...

And that means that Stacy over at Twinshappy has her House MOuse Challege...or at least I hope she does (I'm on vacation and this is a pre-post!) So here is a card I have to share with you today!
So here is my card...another spring card, I knwo I just love these little guys!

This is the only house mouse stamp I have, but I gotit for a dollar and I think it's pretty versatile, it's the size of a card front, but I was able to make it fit this little 3x3 square!

Here is a little better view from the side.... toot toot here, but I really like the coloring on the mice and the grasses.

I don't know if you can see the glitter or not, but there is glitter on the closest candle!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy my entry as much as I'm enjoying the beach right now...LOL Have a happy day and be sure to come back tomorrow for my Tuesday's Teacher post!

We leave for the beach today!!!

I am soooo excited! We will be enjoying the glorious beach for an entire week! The waves crashing into the sand, the salty sea air, swimming, sleeping, eating reading! AHHHH A sigh of relief!

Because I didn't want to boast too much I have planned on leaving you with a whole week of new things to view...I hope you don't mind! So while I'm away I do hope you'll come back and see what I've been up to!

Verve Sketch #3

Here is another sketc for you to see...don't worry tomorrow I won't have a verve sketch! ;) This one I like alright, I think the horse looks cool! This set is called Wanted and the sentiment is from the set older and wiser. The colors are pretty in pink and close to cocoa.

Verve Sketch #4

For this card I started out with a Kraft base, added some tempting turquoise designer paper and then a scrap of cameo coral and certainly celery. Finished it off with a piece of the new silver hodgepodge and ribbon and called it a day!

Ani-Verve-sary Sketch 1 & 2

OKay so Verve Stamps is celebrating their one year anni-verve-sary and they started off with 12 sketch challenges...I was a bit slack in starting them and so here is #1 and #2 they are great sketches and you can find all 12 here! If you finish all 12 by the 12th of Augus, you can be entered to win a prize...a good one too!

Sketch # 1

This is the first sketch for the Anni-verve-sary challenges, but it was the last one I did for some reason... I think all the layers scared me! But it's my most FAV of all the cards I made...something about black and white with a hint of red! For this card I used the retired french script backgroun stamp and the dots cuttlebug embossing folder. The cardstock is shimmery white and basic black. I also added some shimmer to the center of the roses with some glitter!

Sketch # 2

This card is mafe with the new pacific point pared up with certainly celery and an old designer paper. I also used the cuttlebug numbers embossing folder for the panel behind the sentiment!

Thanks for stoppin by!

A little love note

Okay so maybe it's a birthday note, but it's *love* note sized! I lvoe this size and it was the Limited supplies challenge on SCS here. We had to make a card that was ATC (artist trading card) size. It was super quick and super fun to make...and I only used the scraps (even for the base) that were on my cuttig table! HORAYYYYY. What You need:

Tuesday's Teacher

Hello Ladies and gents! Sorry for the late post...the girls didn't want to go to sleep tonight! Mostly the little girl, so we stayed up and played for a bit and now she's OUT! Here is today's Bible verse.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians's 4:13

Ohh how I Love this Bible verse...Okay really there are many that strengthen me and lift me up and make me push harder, but this one really makes me want to strive and achieve ALL my goals...I have been using this verse in my head a lot lately...I have recently made a deal with myself...I'm going to be the healthiest, in the best shape of my life (it's really important for me to show the kids that it's good to be healthy and in shape...plus high cholesterol runs in my family and so I thought I would nip it in the bud before it starts!) So I have been working out a lot and when I feel like I can't push on any more, when I'm the sweatiest I have ever been and my heart is racing and I just can't go on I just repeat this verse in my head and I keep pushing through! I have joked with my husband that I'm going to stamp that verse on the garage wall, that way I can see it when I'm on the elliptical! H said go for it, but I haven't been brave enough yet...maybe soon though!

What is it that you need help pushing through? Are you having marital troubles? Are you facing a tough decision? Or is it hard for you to just simply get out of bed in the morning? (Depression is a real disease!) If you need me to pray for you, please ask, send me an e-mail I will be more than happy to pray for you! Also get this verse in your head...Jesus Loves you, he wants you to succeed and we can do all things through Him. He knows us, he knows our needs, our struggles and He wants to help us...ask Him!

I used to have the hardest time praying, I used to think that you had to have fancy words and fancy prayers in order for God to hear me, guess what? God just wants you to talk to Him, I have had the best talks with God...sometimes I think I'm just blabbering on and on, but God is there, just like any friend, He wants a relationship with you and He wants to strengthen you. Have you talked with God today? Have you asked Him to help you through all things?

Today's Tutorial

Workout Journal
Supplies: Bind-it all, or other binding system/method

-binding coils
-2 pieces of 4 x 8 in. Illustration board, or chipboard
-modpodge, or other strong paper adhesive
-foam brushes
-2 pieces of 4 x 8 in. of Designer paper (here Berry Bliss, retiring August 10Th)
-2 pieces of 1.5 x 8 in. of black card stock
-Stamps or focal image (here I used a Stampingbella Image that was given to my by and SCS friend, thank you!)
-1/16Th inch circle punch
-scraps of card stock to layer on the stamped image
- Lots and lots of pretty matching ribbons!
The first step is to add your adhesive to the back of the designer paper and adhere it to the illustration board or chipboard. The paper will curl or bubble a bit, but it will smooth out as it dries!
You will then punch the scallops in the black strip with the scallop boarder punch (available August 11Th) and then punch the circles using the hand held circle punch. Adhere the strips over the designer paper and add modpodge over entire surface (this will protect the paper from any accidental spills or dripped sweat...LOL)
Color the stamped image and adhere it and all layers on the book cover and add another layer or modpodge.
In this step, I also stamped the title of my journal...a little hint is to start from the last letter and work your way in, this way you always have enough room for all the letters!
Here I am punching the inside pages of my journal (I made mine out of computer copy paper that I cut to 7 7/8 x 3 7/8, just slightly smaller than the cover) To punch the holes, I am lining up and edge with the Bind-it all and then moving it in a tiny bit...since the pages are a tad bit shorter than the cover!

For the cover, I just inserted the page flush with the machine on the left and punched, then moved the cover all the way to the other side and placed it flush with the Bind-it all on the right and punched again...this way I knew that the top and bottom would be perfectly spaced!
To make sure that the book looks a bit more professional, you will want to make a sandwich before you add the coils.

This is how I start...back cover, front cover.

Lay the front cover on top of the back cover, then add the pages on top of the front cover
You will want to feed the coils from the top of the sandwich all the way through. Do this for both sets of holes.

Put it through the Bind-it all to squeeze them shut...
and
Voila! One super professional bound book...the squeezed part is now on the inside of the book, so when you close it all you see is nicely rounded coils! Just like the journals you buy at any store!

And this is the finished project! I added a bunch of ribbons and I colored in the image...Pretty in pink pants with pink passion polka dots to match her pink passion bar bells and sweat wrist bands!

I hope to use this book for many months to come...I think I put in enough pages to last me all year...I am writing several entries on each page...Plus my friend sent me a bunch of images, so I can have a new one each year!

What do you think? Do you like it? Don't you just want one of your very own???

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you liked and are encouraged by today's Bible verse!
